Jack Dongarra elected as National Academy of Sciences Member

UNM Alumni and 2021 Turing Award recipient Jack Dongarra  has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences in recognition of his pioneering contributions to computing.

Dongarra received his PhD in Applied Mathematics in 1980 under the supervision of then UNM Professor Cleve Moler (founder of Matlab). Dongarra is a Distinguished Research Staff at Oak Ridge National Laboratory; Turing Fellow at  University of Manchester; and University Distinguished Professor at  Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
